I make flowers out of pure silk. This is my favourite thing to do. These are called French Silk Flowers because the method must have originated in France a long time ago. I make my flowers using this age old method with brass tools that are heated and the cut out silk petals are pushed into a sand bag to create the curves and lines like in nature. Then I assemble the flower.
I make every type of flower — roses of all sorts of sizes and patterns, frangipanis, lilies, gardenias, orchids, chrysanthemums, hibiscuses, camellias, poppies and peonies. I do beading in some of my designs, and make up swarovski crystal stamens in my lilies. I also add feathers to a lot of my designs. My flowers can be worn as brooches or hair clips and fascinators and can decorate a hat of course.
